MORE than 100 people have turned up to sing carols and celebrate the reopening of a popular Bradford church.
About 130 people were at the carol service at St John’s Church in Greengates to mark the happy occasion.
The church had been forced to lock its doors because its crumbling ceiling needed £40,000 worth of repairs to make it safe again.
Weddings, baptisms and funerals had gone elsewhere and weekly services were moved into the pre-fab church hall next door until the health and safety ban was finally lifted.
As well as donations from businesses and grants, much of the funds raised have come from parishioners’ ventures including tabletop sales, coffee mornings and women’s nights.
