A FORMER Keighley man who climbed 16,000 feet up Africa’s highest mountain when he was 73 has died, aged 81.
Bernard Hancocks (pictured) died in Ontario, Canada. He contracted prostate cancer in 2004.
He previously lived in Highfield Lane, and was educated at Keighley Grammar School.
He began his career as an electrician at Keighley Lifts.
In 2006, Mr Hancocks climbed Mount Kilimanjaro. He gave up on the 19,340-foot summit, after breathing difficulties on the fourth day of the climb.
