A KIND-hearted son has started a social media campaign to try to ensure a Christmas Eve outing with his mum captures the festive spirit.
Fitness instructor Max Lake was disappointed when he found theatre tickets for a festive performance sold out so opted to take his mother Carol to a screening of It’s A Wonderful Life at Keighley Picture House instead.
But he feared the audience could be sparse if revellers chose alternative entertainment, so started a Facebook campaign to try to ensure the 300-seat venue is filled.
And to keep the festivities swinging, he has invited those who book tickets to turn up in fancy dress.
Max has pledged that if the seats are filled, he will provide his own dose of Christmas cheer with mince pies and mulled wine, though he may have to hand that out on the street to meet licensing regulations.
“Sometimes the picture house can be quite empty and I wanted to create some atmosphere for a night out with my mum,” he said.
“So far there has been a good response and some people have said they will turn up with their kids.
“I am asking people to share my appeal and hopefully it will build up in the next couple of days."
“The picture house owners have already been in touch to say it is a nice gesture,” he said.
