A PETITION calling for extra commuter car parking and a full review of a town’s parking issues has been set up.
Ilkley Parish Council is calling on residents to sign the online petition, as councillors consider submitting their own planning application for the former Tesco site.
The petition says supporters want to see additional car parking in Ilkley and a commuters’ car park in the town – and would like Bradford Council to carry out a full review of on and off-street parking, and take action to address the problem.
Councillor Mike Ridgway has made several calls for the site, off Railway Road and Mayfield Road, to be used for extra car parking.
He said: “There’s a clear need for something to happen down there.”
Members of Ilkley Parish Council have been in informal talks about applying for outline planning permission for the land in an attempt to influence what is eventually built there.
