NEW powers have been extended to police community support officers and are now being put to use against those who cause problems in the city centre.
PCSOs have limited powers but a new change means they are able to issue dispersal orders, which can legally prevent individuals from entering an area for up to 48 hours.
The orders are regarded as an effective tool against beggars, shoplifters and others who cause a nuisance.
