ORGANISERS of Haworth 1940s Weekend have issued a stark warning that next year’s 20th anniversary event will be cancelled if sufficient funds cannot be raised by the end of January.
Members of the local organising committee and the Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen’s Families Association, (SSAFA) who are jointly responsible for arranging the weekend, are “extremely disappointed” with the results of a raffle announced at the end of October to generate the necessary cash.
John Taylor, speaking on behalf of the organisers, explained that the raffle featured prizes of £1,000, £500 and £100, but the amount of cash collected so far had been “negligible”.
