THE so-called 'Mad Friday' was largely peaceful in Bradford, said police.
Officers in the district all reported they had no particular issues and did not see any real increase in call levels over what they normally see at weekends.
Revellers in the city, as well as those across West Yorkshire, received praise from the police for kick-starting the Christmas season "in the right spirit".
Assistant Chief Constable Russ Foster, said: "The last Friday before Christmas is traditionally one of our busiest days of the year but I am pleased to report that Friday evening passed off largely peacefully and safely across West Yorkshire.
"We planned thoroughly for it to make sure extra officers and special constables were on patrol with additional specialist resources to manage crime types which can increase at this time of year such as incidents of disorder and alcohol-related violence, including domestic abuse. Our policing style was very engaging and one where we intervened early when we came across rowdy individuals and groups to prevent an escalation in violence and disorder.
"Bradford, Calderdale, Leeds, Wakefield and Kirklees districts all reported they had no particular issues and did not see any real increases in call levels over what we normally see at weekends.
"Indeed, the feeling from officers patrolling was that the majority of people enjoyed themselves and appreciated seeing so many uniformed officers, police volunteers, and partners on our streets."
