A COUNCILLOR has been condemned for saying a teenage rapist should be chemically castrated.
Cllr Brian Morris said the boy, convicted on Monday of raping a 15-year-old girl in Braithwaite, Keighley, when he was the same age, should suffer for the rest of his life.
He spoke after a judge at Bradford Crown Court warned the boy, now 16, that he would be locked up for the attack last November behind the estate’s Rainbow Centre.
UKIP politician Cllr Morris, who represents Keighley West ward on Bradford Council, said a rape victim has to live with the trauma for the rest of their life and the offender should have to live with the consequences.
Bradford council leader Cllr David Green said: “I don’t think Cllr Morris’s comments are helpful or will bring any closure. I think he would be better seeing what he could do to support the girl.”
