A 39-YEAR-OLD Bradford man has been locked up and warned to expect a long jail sentence after he was caught with almost £170,000 of cocaine.
Nasir Suleman was today convicted by a jury of possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply, between August 2012 and August 2013, but cleared of possession of cash as criminal property.
Suleman, of Sunderland Road, Heaton, was remanded into custody to be sentenced on January 20.
He was warned by Judge Neil Davey QC to expect "a substantial sentence of imprisonment".
During Suleman's trial, the jury at Bradford Crown Court heard that police found cocaine of 78 per cent purity, with a street value of £169,600, at a house in Killinghall Road, Bradford.
Also seized from the address were a hydraulic press, scales, a mixing bowl and press plates.
Judge Davey adjourned the case for the preparation of a report from the probation service, saying he needed to know more about Suleman before deciding on the length of the inevitable prison sentence.
Suleman's barrister, Henry Spooner, asked for bail to be extended until the sentencing date.
He said Suleman was a family man who had always attended court hearings on time.
But Judge Davey withdrew bail, saying he feared Suleman might abscond.
