JET-SETTING Yorkshire residents are looking to get away from the cold this Christmas, according to a survey.
More than half of British people regularly spend the festive period abroad, with 74 per cent of those heading off for a sunshine break.
The findings come from a survey by Monarch Airlines, which flies from Leeds Bradford Airport.
Sunny destinations are the most popular with people from Yorkshire, with Tenerife number one. Faro in Portugal’s Algarve region takes second spot, with Alicante third.
The survey also found 82 per cent of people feel Christmas abroad would be less stressful than one spent at home.
While 84 per cent of respondents never went abroad at Christmas as children, 31 per cent now consider a Christmas holiday abroad a family tradition.
