MORE than 80 homes will receive free fire home safety checks after signing up for the scheme outside a Bradford supermarket.
Firefighters hosted a stall at the Asda store on Rooley Lane yesterday - where they also took the opportunity to sell calendars in aid of the Fire Fighters Charity.
The fire safety checks involve firefighters visiting homes, checking smoke alarms, carrying out a fire risk assessment, and helping implement a fire plan in case the house was to set alight.
Mike Titmarsh, district support officer for the fire service, said: "We had a good day. More than 80 signed up, which was more than we were expecting. It was definitely worth it, both from a fire safety side and the charity side."
The charity calendars - called Red Hot Dates - feature 16 firefighters from around the county alongside essential fire safety messages.
Among those pictured are Dave Latz, Sha Basha, Lee Robinson and Matthew Broadbent, all of Odsal station, Matt Wolski from Idle station, Matt Whitaker from Rawdon station, Steve O’Keefe of Fairweather Green station, John Bates of Cleckheaton station, and Nick Hollingworth from Brighouse station.
The calendar is available to buy at www.redhotdates.org.uk.
