PEACE comes to the district in a newly-published book of picture postcards from the First World War.
Yorkshire At War 1914-18 has been written by Norman Ellis, who has collected postcards from across Yorkshire for more than 40 years.
He has chosen more than 60 postcards from his collection to illustrate how the war affected people on the Home Front.
The book also shows vehicles, soldiers, civilians and refugees in West Yorkshire towns, as well as the destruction in towns like Scarborough and Hull as a result of enemy action.
Yorkshire At War 1914-18 costs £4.95. Visit postcardcollecting.co.uk or call 0115 9374079.
