PEOPLE were given top tips on how to make their festive food go further with a series of demonstrations by Bradford Council’s health and recycling experts.
Ministry of Food staff were on-hand in Oastler Market to cook up healthy festive recipes and give advice on how to avoid wasting leftovers.
Members of Bradford Council’s recycling team were also present to demonstrate how decorations could be made from food packaging, including brightening up a Christmas tree using painted bottle tops.
Environmental health officers also gave tips on how to cook safely to prevent the risk of food poisoning spoiling the big day.
Councillor Val Slater, chairman of the West Yorkshire Trading Standards Committee, said: “This event helped inspire people to come up with creative ways to enjoy a healthier and less wasteful Christmas.
“Learning a few new recipes, how to store leftovers safely, and making your own decorations will just make it more fun this year.
“The event also helped us all be to more responsible by reducing waste, recycling more and also finding out how to keep safe from stomach bugs.”
