TWO Vietnamese men accused of producing cannabis in Shipley have been remanded in custody pending their trial.
Canh Pham, 37, and Ha Xuan Ngo, 41, both of no fixed address, are accused of producing cannabis at Merchant’s House, Ashley Lane, Shipley.
Prosecutor Paul Nicholson told Bradford Crown Court yesterday that the police had visited the defendants in prison and Pham had told them he had been deported back to Vietnam in 2004 but that this year he had made his way back to the UK via Russia, Poland and France.
Mr Nicholson said: “There was no evidence of any coercion.
“He was simply trying to make a better life for himself.”
The pair were remanded in custody.
The trial is fixed for May 6, with a plea and case management hearing taking place on February 2.
