WHEN a Bradford housing association asked its residents how it could improve life on their estate – they asked for CCTV.
Accent Housing has responded by switching on a new crime-catching CCTV system at its Ripleyville scheme in Glover Street, West Bowling.
Residents living there had been concerned about anti-social behaviour for some time and now 16 CCTV cameras have been fitted, remotely connected to Accent’s nearby regional office in Senior Way, with a further link to local police teams.
Accent chief executive Gordon Perry said similar schemes the association has introduced have already proved to be an effective deterrent to tackle anti-social behaviour.
Mr Perry said: “Unfortunately, some incidents have made our residents feel unsafe but, with the new CCTV, we can act quickly and get tough on those responsible.”
Residents were invited to the ‘switch-on’ family event, which included a festive buffet and fun and games for children.
