TWO nurseries in the district have been praised for making swift improvements after being criticised by Government inspectors earlier this year.
In June, Keighley Community Nursery was given an “inadequate” rating by Ofsted after inspectors found issues with the nursery’s safeguarding and teaching.
However, when they returned last month inspectors found that the management committee had made a great turnaround, and the school’s rating was upgraded to “good.”
Inspectors said: “A strong focus on the continuous drive for improvement has resulted in raising the quality of the provision and of children’s achievements.”
Similarly, Canterbury Nursery School and Centre for Families was given an inadequate rating in August, with inspectors critical of the nursery’s child safeguarding procedures and staff training. Last week Ofsted released their latest rating for the nursery, elevating it to “good,” with child safeguarding deemed outstanding. A spokesman for the nursery said: “We are delighted that our setting has been graded as good overall and that our provision for the well-being of children has been graded as outstanding.
"The inspector was glowing in her praise of the support we provide to children and their families, the quality of our learning environment and the skills and knowledge of our staff team. We would like to thank all our parents and carers for continuing to be very supportive over the last six months and we are sure that they are as pleased as us with the outcome.”
