THE head of a Bradford-based luxury car design company has been honoured with a lifetime achievement award at the Car Dealer Awards.
Afzal Kahn, founder and chief designer of A. Kahn Design, was presented with the award at a ceremony in London.
The judging panel paid tribute to Mr Kahn’s achievements, acknowledging that for more than 20 years, he has been setting the trends in automotive fashion and it was only right to honour him with the Lifetime Achievement award.
Mr Kahn, who runs the Canal Road-based firm, said: “It is a huge honour to receive this lifetime achievement award.
"Throughout my professional life, I have had the opportunity to shape the brand into something stylish, distinctive, and young-at-heart, and our products reflect this attitude.
“The Kahn Group is going from strength-to-strength.
"We have made a significant number of investments throughout a number of projects, which extend from coach built special editions, the series manufacture of our very own vehicles and the inception of distinctive new brands such as the Chelsea Truck Company.
“We are proud to be a British Manufacturer that ships our products to over 40 destinations across the globe, the base of operations houses a sales team that converse in excess of 20 languages, offering something truly international."
The prestigious honour caps off a great year for Kahn Design, who had one of its vehicles used to squash Tom Cruise in a Hollywood blockbuster film.
They provided a jeep that was used in a scene in Edge of Tomorrow - a military science fiction movie, released earlier this year.
In the film, Cruise plays Lt Col Bill Cage, an officer who finds himself caught in a time loop during a war with an alien race.
In the jeep scene, Cruise's character tries to roll under a passing vehicle - the Kahn Jeep Wrangler Chelsea Truck Company CJ300 - but is squashed.
He then has another, this time successful, attempt in the next 'loop'.
Meanwhile, the firm also unveiled its first motorcycle earlier this year.
Teaming up with renowned luxury motorcycle brand Lauge Jensen, A. Kahn Design has branched out from cars and timepieces.
The A.Kahn Design Lauge Jensen, limited edition motorbike was unveiled in London alongside the Prince of Denmark and former Miss Universe and I’m A Celebrity contestant Amy Willerton.
The Canal Road-based firm, which is also known as Project Kahn, has already sold ten of the bikes, with buyers rumoured to include Middle Eastern royalty, Premier League footballers and Hollywood stars.
