ROYAL Mail is beating its own delivery targets in Bradford postcode areas with 93 per cent of first class letters hitting doormats the day after being posted.
That was slightly ahead of the target figure of 93 per cent.
The figures cover the April to September period, when its second class service also beat its target, with 98.9 per cent of mail delivered within three working days, against a target of 98.5 per cent.
Of Bradford’s 118 postcodes, 110 met or passed the target for first class mail, according to the company.
Royal Mail is the only UK mail delivery company required to publish Quality of Service performance against delivery targets every quarter.
The company is involved in a modernisation programme across its operations and is spending £130 million nationally in the next five years in hand-held technology to provide more flexible delivery for customers and better tracking capability.
Rob Jenson, operations director of Royal Mail, said: “Royal Mail continues to provide a high quality of service to our customers. Our postmen and women work exceptionally hard to deliver to these demanding targets, which are some of the highest in Europe. We remain more focussed than ever on continuously improving and maintaining high standards of service which meet, and exceed, our customers’ expectations.”
The final dates for posting Christmas letters have also been issued by the Royal Mail, with Thursday December 18 for second class and Saturday December 20 for first class items.
