A 15-year-old Keighley boy was in police custody last night after he was arrested in connection with an attack on an old soldier.
George Gill, 69, was attacked by a gang of youths in LUndPark, Keighley, as he walked from his home to a Remembrance Sunday service.
Mr Gill, who had recently had heart surgery, was sent sprawling top the ground and had his beret, poppy, and medals awarded for service in Ulster and Cyprus during an 18-year infantry career with the Duke of Wellington's Regiment, taken in the incident.
Police appealed to anyone who saw a group of Asian youths acting suspiciously in the park to come forward.
Yesterday, officers arrested the 15-year-old on suspicion of robbery and he was being held in custody for questioning.
They are still hunting other suspects. Anyone with information is urged to contact Bradford District CID, via 101, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
