AN OPEN-topped vintage bus will be taking passengers about the Worth Valley this summer.

The Bronte Country Bus Tour is aimed at attracting tourists and highlighting to local people places of interest on their doorstep. The tour-hour tour covers Keighley, Haworth and surrounding villages, and passengers can hop on and off along the way.

Organised by the Bronte Country Partnership, comprised of Bradford Council, private sector organisations and town and parish councils, it returns for a third year and has been extended throughout the school summer holiday. The tour started this week, with representatives from local businesses and tourist attractions climbing aboard, and will be open to the public at weekends from July 28.

The bus, part of Keighley Bus Museum Trust's collection, is driven by Keighley Town Mayor Graham Mitchell who said: "People don't realise what is around them and what lies behind the frontages of buildings. This is a way of finding out more about how places like Keighley came to be as they are."

Sarah Howsen, the Council's senior tourism development officer, added: "People go to Haworth but there are places they may not normally think of visiting, such as the Police Museum. We want to show how much there is in Keighley and surrounding areas. For £4 you can use the bus to get to specific places, or just enjoy the sightseeing tour as a whole.
