A commemoration and celebration marking the life of Dr Achhar Paul Dharni will be held at Ventnor Hall, off Leeds Road, Bradford, later this month.
Dr Dharni, who lived in the Kings Road area of the city, died on January 16 aged 72 after a battle with liver cancer.
He came to England from India in 1962 after completing a degree in English from Punjab University and went on to manage an insurance and travel business, Dharni and Company, in Leeds Road, Bradford, for more than 40 years.
In 2009 he was awarded the MBE for his dedication and commitment to Bradford and that same year he became a doctor of the University of Bradford.
He leaves a wife, three daughters, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
About 250 people are expected at the service on Saturday, June 21, from 4pm.
