Guests at a charity dinner showed “overwhelming” generosity to raise £1,000 for the Telegraph & Argus Bradford Crocus Cancer Appeal, marking another step towards its £1 million target.
The event at the Carlisle Business Centre, Manningham, which also featured a women's entrepreneur bazaar, was organised by the Bradford Muslim Women Forum.
More than 150 guests raised £2,000 on the night, to be shared between the Crocus Appeal and the Behbud Women's Centre in Pakistan.
Forum chairman Sabiya Khan said: “The event was very well attended, and we were genuinely overwhelmed by such a great response for the charities.”
The Telegraph & Argus is working with the university, Yorkshire Cancer Research and Sovereign Healthcare Charitable Trust to raise £1m for the discovery and development of new cancer medicines at the university's Institute of Cancer Therapeutics.
