A pilot and passenger were injured and trapped upside down when their light aircraft crashed after landing at a private airstrip near Haworth this afternoon.
Firecrews and specialist rescue teams from across Bradford district were sent to the landing strip at Oxenhope beside Black Moor Road and close to Upwood holiday park and caravan site.
Crews from Keighley, Fairweather Green and Bingley were first to arrive following the emergency call made at 4.01pm.
They found the pilot and passenger inside the upturned aeroplane which appeared to have toppled over after reaching the end of the runway.
Other appliances on their way to the scene were then returned to their bases.
Both the men involved in the crash suffered injuries which warranted them being helicoptered to Leeds General Infirmary by the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
The plane, a single propellor two seater private aircraft, was made safe by having its fuel cut off and battery removed before being taken to an airfield hangar.
