A collection of birds including pheasants and parrots died in a garage fire at a Bradford house.
Fire crews from Shipley and Bradford were called out to the property on Ashburnham Grove, Heaton, at 10.05am on Saturday.
An investigation ruled the fire was caused by an electrical distribution fault and had not been started deliberately.
Watch Commander Jonny Earl, of Shipley Fire Station, said: “It was absolutely gutted. It’s just a shell with part of the roof. It was accidental.
“We were at the scene for nearly five hours. The flames were 25 feet in the air.
“The owner kept prized birds. All of the birds died. The owner was absolutely mortified by it. The fire was accidental.
“It took about 45 minutes to get the fire under control.”
