A Bradford landlord is attempting to bring World Cup fever to the city by placing flags of all the countries taking part on the side of his pub.
Stuart Carr, of the Turf Pub on Keighley Road, Frizinghall, has sewn flags of all 32 nations together to form a striking 32ft by 12ft montage, which he hopes will prove a real talking point for footy-mad customers.
Mr Carr said he had created a similar flag for all major tournaments in recent years, in a project that has now become a “mini-tradition” for the pub.
“It just adds something to the atmosphere,” he said. “You can’t beat watching the England games in a packed pub, it’s the nearest thing to actually being there.”
The pub will be showing all England games during the tournament, alongside all other games that fall within its licensing hours.
Mr Carr, who has run the pub for the past seven years, said: “It’s hard to see past the South American sides, but we’ll be supporting England all the way.”
