A Bradford technology company has clinched a half million pound order from a European airline operator.
Belgravium Technologies, which makes hand held data kit, will supply the unnamed customer with on-board point-of-sale systems in a deal worth about £420,000.
The new contract, most of which will be delivered in the current year, will see the airline update to the latest version of Belgravium’s retail software.
It follows a £1.1 million deal with rail company First Great Western.
Mark Hardy, Belgravium group managing director, said: “We have worked with this customer in the past and we are delighted that it has returned to us and is placing its trust in Belgravium to deliver an integral part of its on-board retail solution.
“We are working closely with the customer to ensure that the solution is in place and operational as soon as possible so that it can continue to improve the efficiency of its daily operations and deliver a exemplary level of customer service to its patrons.”
The deal was announced as John Kembery, Belgravium’s executive chairman, told shareholders that trading levels were well ahead of last year after a slow start.
He told the company’s annual general meeting: “Trading in the year to date is significantly ahead of the equivalent period last year albeit that it has commenced more slowly than expected. As in previous years the results for the year as a whole are expected to be heavily second half weighted.
“The new sales strategy is creating a good deal of opportunity. We were delighted in April to be awarded by First Great Western a retail sales contract to the value of £1.1 million. In addition, we have announced this morning another significant contract worth circa £420,000 with a major European carrier.
“These contract wins, the principal benefits of which will be in the second half, demonstrate our ability to compete at the highest level. The level of order enquiries is encouraging and we are confident that a good proportion of these can be converted to sales in the second half.”
