Youngsters at Stage 84 have come away from the Wharfedale Festival of Performing Arts with a cluster of trophies.
Oscar Hazell (pictured front, centre) was awarded the prestigious Yorkshire Television Premier Award at the festival for the most outstanding performance in the speech and drama section.
Oscar performed a solo characterisation to win the trophy, and was also awarded first place in his class. He also came second with his Shakespeare solo.
The Wharfedale Festival takes place annually in Ilkley, showcasing the talents of young performers in areas of music and drama.
Stage 84 youngsters were also awarded first, second and third places for drama over the course of the week, in categories of verse speaking, Bible reading, prose reading and solo characterisation classes. Workshop students won first places with their performances of excerpts from Billy Liar and The Railway Children, and second places with Too Much Punch for Judy and The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.
Stage 84 students are presenting four productions this year. The first is Miss Saigon, at Bingley Arts Centre from July 9-12. The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe will be staged in June.
Celebrations are planned to mark the 30th anniversary of Stage 84 in September. Summer schools will be held in July and August for youngsters wanting to get involved. For details, or to book tickets, call (01274) 611984 or visit stage84.com.
