Independent bookshop chain Blackwell’s, which has a branch in The Richmond Building at the University Of Bradford, has been named book retailer of the year at the annual Bookseller Industry Awards.

Martin Kelly, Bradford store manager, said: “Recognition like this is not only important for us as the staff in the stores but is a valuable way of encouraging people to browse online but also come in store.

“Our staff really know their books and I’ve lost count of the number of customer conversations with our staff which have then led to very successful recommendations.”
