A gang of masked robbers leapt over a shop counter and threatened staff before fleeing with cash and cigarettes in a late night raid yesterday.
The incident happened at 10.50pm at a shop on the A65 Leeds Road near to Wheatley Lane in Ben Rhydding, Ilkley.
West Yorkshire Police say three offenders were involved, all masked, and jumped over the counter after entering the store.
Two members of staff were present and both were left shaken, but unharmed, after being threatened by the offenders. A customer was also present but was not harmed in the incident.
One of the gang was carrying a large light brown builder’s type sack, which had handles, and they grabbed cigarettes and money before escaping in a vehicle.
Those involved were described as three white males, all in grey/dark tracksuit type clothing, with faces partially obscured by hoods which were pulled up. They also had balaclava type face coverings, possibly with bandanas over lower faces and were all wearing gloves.
Detective Inspector Neil Benstead, of Bradford District CID, said: "This is clearly a serious offence which left both staff members inside the store very shaken.
"We are appealing to any witnesses to the offence or any information as to the men responsible.
"At this stage we are not able to say what vehicle was used by the suspects but the appeal is for information from anyone witnessing a vehicle leaving the scene."
