The family of a tireless charity worker has given £500 to the Lord Mayor’s Appeal in Bradford in his memory.
It is hoped the donation could be the first step towards establishing a permanent charitable trust in his name.
Relatives of Rashid Awan made the donation to Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Khadim Hussain, in recognition of the years of support Mr Awan had given the charity, and many others in the city, before his death last year.
His son, Qasem Awan, said: “We want to set up a charitable trust in the near future, hopefully in the next year, to support more charities.”
Coun Hussain added: “I knew Mr Awan for almost 20 years and he had a passion for Bradford.
“He is sadly missed but he has left a legacy.”
