Thieves struck at a new multi-use games area in a park within days of it being opened.
Tennis nets and supports were taken from Kirk Lane Park, in Yeadon, which has recently undergone a £118,000 facelift with new play equipment and the games area.
The facility was funded from local developer contributions, following requests by local people, and support from Guiseley and Rawdon councillors. Work on the scheme finished in April.
Ward councillor Pat Latty said: “It really is the last straw when you work for so long and invest so much time and money in a facility that will enhance the youth provision in our area, and some light fingered individuals spoil it.
“The theft has been reported to the police but the chances of finding it must be very slim. I appeal to the guilty parties to return the net.”
