A Bradford MP has met police in an effort to combat the anti-social use of off-road vehicles around the city.
David Ward (pictured) is calling for compulsory registration of off-road vehicles, such as quad bikes and dirt bikes, to help tackle crime.
He has tabled an Early Day Motion in Parliament on the issue, calling on the Government to compel owners to be required by law to register their vehicle, and stating “Bradford has a high incidence of anti-social behaviour related to the use of off-road vehicles”.
Mr Ward (Lib Dem, Bradford East) said: “The police were very positive about my calls for the compulsory registration of off-road vehicles.
“While the police do have the necessary powers to take effective enforcement action against anti-social behaviour, unless good community intelligence is forthcoming, they often struggle to actually find those responsible.
“The registration of off-road vehicles would be massive step in tackling crime.”
