An open-air pool will have its official summer season opening event this weekend.

On Saturday families visiting Ilkley Lido can try a climbing wall and have their faces painted at the Bradford Council-run venue.

The Council’s assistant director sport and leisure Phil Barker said: “We are hoping that this year, with lots more activities and events happening at the pool and the Tour de France Grand Depart taking place in the district, we will have another great summer season.”

Chairman of Friends of Ilkley Lido Louise Hale said: “We have been working hard with Bradford Council to make this season at the lido one of the best.”

Saturday’s event runs from 10am to 5pm and tickets cost £2.
