An appeal to fund a gravestone for a mother-of-two murdered by her former boyfriend has raised £400 in five days.
Jade Watson, of Wrose, Shipley was murdered by James Gray, 25, of Wood Lane, Swain House, Bradford in a jealous rage on November 5 last year after discovering she was in a new relationship.
Gray was jailed for life, with a minimum term of 15 years, at Bradford Crown Court on Monday.
Now the 22-year-old’s family has started an online appeal to raise £1,000 for a headstone at Bowling Cemetery, Rooley Lane.
This is aimed at giving her two young children, Jacob and Ella, a place to remember her, known as ‘mummy’s garden’.
Jade’s sister, Becki Watson, said: “The appeal has been great. It just shows us how popular Jade was.
“The money raised is a big step forward to what we need to raise.”
