Eight people were hurt following a smash involving three cars in the centre of Cleckheaton tonight.
West Yorkshire Police said the worst injury was a suspected broken leg, with the others apparently sustaining slight injuries.
The collision happened at the cross roads with St Pegg Lane, Bradford Road and Park View Lane, with residents reporting severe traffic disruption as emergency services worked at the scene.
West Yorkshire Police confirmed officers had been pursuing one of the vehicles involved in the collision, which was believed to be stolen.
That car is understood to have gone through a red traffic light immediately before the collision.
Two occupants had been arrested, one of which had been injured and was taken to hospital.
Because the incident involved a police pursuit, the Independent Police Complaints Commission had been informed. It was unclear last night what form their investigation would take.
Firefighters from the Cleckheaton station attended but were not needed other than to help paramedics get one patient onto a stretcher.
The Yorkshire Air Ambulance was called to the scene.
West Yorkshire Police said their inquiries into the circumstances of the crash were continuing.
In addition to a fire crew, three police vehicles and at least two ambulances were called to the scene.
