After a month’s break for Easter, My Newt Comedy is back at The Waterside Restaurant & Bar in Shipley next week with a line-up that includes an up-and-coming Bradford comedian who could be on the road to becoming one of the biggest names in comedy.
In his relatively short-time Johnny Pelham has really made an impact on the comedy circuit. He’s entered and reached the final of every major new comer comedy award, finishing second in both So You Think You’re Funny and The Chortle Student Comedy Awards in 2012, third in the 2013 Laughing Horse new act competition and second in the BBC Radio new comedy awards 2013.
Newt promoter Daniel J Kennedy said: “It’s great to have Johnny back at My Newt Comedy here at The Waterside, although judging by how quickly his star is rising I’m not entirely sure we’ll be able to afford him when we come round to booking acts for next year.”
The headline act next Monday night is Sully O’Sullivan, a multi-award winning New Zealand comic who has been picking up accolades and fans since he first took to the stage in 1998.
He’s in demand in comedy clubs all over the world, but according to Daniel “is extremely excited to be finally getting the chance to perform in Shipley.”
My Newt Comedy at Shipley’s The Waterside, is on Monday May 19. Doors open at 7pm and admission includes a bowl of chilli.
