A kingpin of Keighley and Worth Valley football has died at 63.
Glyn Smith, who lived in Haworth, died in hospital after a short illness.
The former Haworth Football Club player was married with three sons and a daughter.
Paul Brearey, who knew him for 30 years, said: “He loved
football, liked to socialise and was very well known.”
He said Mr Smith was a talented player for Haworth who later went on to coach the juniors. After the club folded he moved to Keighley Lifts then Bronte Wanderers. He was also a
referee, trainer and manager.
The funeral is at 1pm on Friday, May 23, at Oakworth Crematorium, followed by
gatherings at West Lane Baptist Church, Haworth, and in The Sun pub from 3pm.
