Police have urged people to report any suspicious activity around industrial units following a raid that uncovered a 1,000-plant cannabis farm in Pudsey.
Officers had been alerted to the massive farm, inside a fitted-out warehouse in Richardshaw Lane, by a member of the public who noticed the distinctive smell coming from the building.
The building was raided last Thursday and police believe the cannabis being grown could have a street value of hundreds of thousands of pounds.
A van sped from the scene but was eventually stopped by police and its two occupants arrested. A third man was later held on suspicion of cultivating cannabis. The three have since been released on bail pending further inquiries.
Inspector Dan Wood said: “Thanks to the vigilance of a member of the public, a significant quantity of cannabis has been seized before it could enter the illegal drugs market that fuels crime and anti-social behaviour.”
