Bradford student Noor Uddin has been awarded a £2,500 grant towards his ambition to turn run-down areas of Bradford into community gardens.
His Community Garden Project has received backing from social enterprise support body UnLtd, through its Building Futures Award programme.
Noor, from Manningham, a student at Huddersfield University and a member of the local personal development organisation JCI Bradford, has also had support from the Open Field enterprise and training division of Shipley-based Incommunities.
He said: “I’ve had this idea for some time and I contacted Philip Cavalier-Lumley from Bradford District Community Fund and we discussed how to get it off the ground. I also joined JCI Bradford to meet new people around Bradford and share my ideas in the hope I may get some feedback and help.”
To nominate potential development sites, contact Noor on noor@jcibradford.org.uk or call 07830 634134.
