An MP is demanding a fairer deal for the north, saying Shipley has been short-changed by £6 million in Lottery funding.
Shipley MP Philip Davies estimates that since the National Lottery began in 1995, the town’s residents have paid in £7.3 million but only received £1 million to its arts organisations.
He said this £6.3m deficit was in stark contrast to London, which had a surplus of £776m.
Mr Davies said: “It is inevitable that the capital city will receive more money than elsewhere but the funding gap in Shipley and other parts of the Bradford district is excessive.”
