Around £170,000 from assets seized from criminals is available for community groups. The second grant round of the Safer Communities Fund officially opened yesterday, with money claimed under the Proceeds of Crime Act. Applications of up to £7,500 can now be submitted and will be considered by an Independent Advisory Board. West Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner Mark Burns-Williamson said: “I launched the Safer Communities Fund in February to support local groups, organisation and charities that deliver upon community safety. “There was an unprecedented interest in the first round of bids, with 45 different groups from across West Yorkshire receiving a share of £218,000.”
