A soup kitchen which feeds hundreds of people a week across the Bradford district is expanding its services to Leeds.
The InTouch Foundation started in December 2012 in Bradford city centre before also opening in Shipley and Keighley.
Today, it will also start serving in Leeds city centre with the level of use expected to reach similar levels to that of Bradford’s kitchen.
The weekly service is expected to attract about 100 people in the first few weeks, growing to about 200 people weekly.
The expansion is the latest move for the InTouch Foundation which also starts a foodbank service this month.
Founder Osman Gondal said: “I’m getting e-mails, and so are colleagues, pretty much every day with people wanting to join up.
“It’s taken a lot of hard work and effort, but I think the common ground is that there is a need in the community and people are just looking to get involved.”
