The former boyfriend of murdered mum-of-two Jade Watson was today jailed for life.

James Gray, 25, was convicted last Friday of the murder of Jade, 22, at a caravan at the back of his mother’s home in Wood Lane, Swain House, Bradford, last November.

Jade, of Wrose, Shipley, died after Gray strangled her with his hands and hit her over the head during a row when she told him she was in a relationship with another man.

Sentencing him at Bradford Crown Court this afternoon Mr Justice Globe said Jade was a “vibrant, fun-loving, passionate young lady who was much loved”.

He ordered that Gray must serve a mimumn of 15 years before he can be considered for release and told him: “By your actions you have prematurely and unnecessarily ended the life of a young mother and caused a devastating loss to all of those close to her.”

He said Gray had lost his temper and manually strangled Jade, intending to kill her.

Following the sentencing Jade’s sister, Becki Watson, 25, said: "Jade was only 22 and had her whole life ahead of her with her two children. She was the most loving mother and had many friends.

"Now justice has been done, no sentence will ever bring her back or justify what a lovely person we lost."
