A brain tumour charity founded in Bradford is hoping to reach its £2m target.

Brain Tumour Research and Support Across Yorkshire, comprising Andrea’s Gift set up in memory of Bradford mum – Andrea Key – who died of a brain tumour, is celebrating raising £1,974,000 and is now calling on the public to help it top its 'Target £2m'.

They suggest traditional fundraising ideas such as car boot sales, guess the name of the bear, raffles, tea parties and sponsored silences or donning bright clothes; hosting a Come Dine With Me-style gathering or using your creative flair for knitting, baking or drawing to the charity’s advantage by selling it at local fairs to raise funds.

With the Grand Depart bound for the region in July, budding cyclists may be inspired to participate in the charity’s Big Bike Ride.

For those who have not already booked their place, the event starts and ends at Wetherby Rugby Club on Saturday and there is a choice of a 35 or 64-mile ride to suit all cycling abilities.
