A 12-year old Keighley boy has won a national award for his poetry.
The Young Writers Foundation gave Islam Hussain, of Highfield, the Young Writers Creativity Award for his poem Dark Room.
Islam’s father, Sabir, said Islam, a University Academy Keighley student, was one of only 171 UK youngsters selected from 4,000 entries to be published in the foundation’s annual Power of Poetry.
Islam said: “Dark Room is based on a young person who is depressed and can’t leave their room. It talks about the social life of young children who suffer from depression due to family problems and pressure to do exams.”
