An artistic project to welcome the Tour de France to Pool-in-Wharfedale will be completed this month – after overcoming a cash crisis. The organisers of Banners Over Pool feared the worst when they were told at the end of 2013 that their £10,000 funding bid had been rejected. But the scheme, which will display 20 double-sided signs sporting designs by children, was put back on track when Leeds Inspired agreed to cover the costs. Now artists Karen and Tony van de Bospoort have helped schoolchildren create the 40 colourful images they need. These will be attached to lampposts along the Tour route through the village at the end of May.
