Bradford Women for Peace and Bradford District Women’s Forum are holding a vigil for the missing Nigerian schoolgirls.
The groups will be wearing red while brandishing banners in support of the ‘Bring Back Our Girls’ campaign near The Tyrls, next to the Co-operative Bank at the bottom of Sunbridge Road, in the city between 4.30pm and 5pm on Monday.. It follows the abduction of almost 300 Nigerian schoolgirls on April 15.
Chairman of Bradford District Women’s Forum and a member of Bradford Women for Peace Liz Firth said: “Our hearts go out to the missing girls, their families and friends, and to the Nigerian community living here. We wanted to show our solidarity with the girls involved and demonstrate our commitment to rejecting violence against women, wherever in the world it occurs.”
All are welcome at the event, including children. The vigil is women-led but men are welcome to show their support.
