Morrisons has started talks with unions and staff at its key West Yorkshire distribution depot about changes which could result in some job cuts.
The Bradford-based supermarket confirmed that it has started consultations at the depot near Wakefield – which reportedly could result in up to 100 job losses.
Unnamed workers have claimed that Morrisons is also seeking to cut working hours and wages at the depot, which employs around 1,700 people.
The company said it was is introducing operational changes at its Wakefield regional distribution centre to improve efficiency.
A company spokesman said: “We are consulting with colleagues and unions to reduce the risk of any compulsory redundancies including redeployment around our business. We will be supporting all colleagues affected by the proposed changes.”
