Tonight, Bradford Cathedral will be screening Charlie Chaplin’s silent film City Lights.
Assistant director of music Jonathan Eyre provides the live organ improvisation for the 1931 romantic comedy staring Charlie Chaplin as the tramp who falls in love with a blind girl and develops a turbulent friendship with an alcoholic millionaire.
In 2007 it was rated the 11th greatest American film of all time, and the final scene “the greatest single piece of acting ever committed to celluloid”. Tickets are £8 and include wine and nibbles after the showing, with proceeds going to the Organ Restoration Appeal.
