An MP is urging residents to enjoy the benefits of the great outdoors during National Walking Month.
Keen walker Greg Mulholland (Lib Dem, Leeds North West) has marked the occasion by tabling a motion of support in Parliament. The Living Streets National Walking Month campaign aims to inspire people to use their cars less, and walk more, throughout May.
Mr Mulholland, a member of the Long Distance Walkers’ Association, said: “Making that simple choice to walk instead of driving is a fantastic and easy way to get some exercise.
“Walking is a great mood lifter and helps you to relieve stress. “I am a keen hill walker and have recently walked the Wharfedale Three Peaks challenge, but I equally enjoy strolls in Golden Acre Park, on Woodhouse Ridge, around Yeadon Tarn and on Otley Chevin with my family.”
